Friday, November 23, 2018, 05:00pm - 08:00pm

The Victorian Christmas Weekend presented by Confederation Court Mall will take place from Friday, November 23 until Sunday, November 25. The weekend will feature: the 5th annual Victorian Christmas Market; visits with Santa at the market; free horse and wagon rides, Singalongs with Dave Woodside; free historical walking tours; roaming Christmas carolers; classic Christmas movies at City Cinema; breakfast with Santa at the Delta Prince Edward; a warm-up station at the Confederation Court Mall; a Christmas tree garden, ice sculpting demonstrations; and much more.

In order for this event to take place, a number of road closures are required. Motorists are advised that on Friday, November 23, from 5 am until 11 pm on Sunday, November 25, the following streets will be closed to all traffic, with no parking permitted on either side of the streets: Queen Street between Grafton Street and Kent Street; Queen Street between Grafton Street and Sydney Street; and Richmond Street between Pownal Street and Great George Street.

For persons with disabilities, the Victorian Christmas Market will have accessible washrooms on-site, and the elevator and accessible washrooms within the Confederation Centre of the Arts and Confederation Court Mall are also available. Accessible parking is available in the downtown core, near the event.

As part of the Victorian Christmas Weekend, and a kick-off to the City of Charlottetown’s Wintertide Holiday Festival, the Wintertide Holiday Festival Tree Lighting will take place on Friday, November 23.

To make this event possible, there will be minor traffic impacts. From 5 am until 7:30 pm, there will be no parking on Grafton Street between Queen Street and Great George Street. This section of Grafton will also be closed to vehicular traffic from 4:30 pm until the conclusion of the event on Friday, November 23.

The T3 Transit bus stops located on Grafton Street (stop A) will be temporarily moved to the corner of Grafton Street and Church Street (Veteran Affairs Canada building) between the hours of 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm on November 23. For additional information on T3 Transit, contact 902-566-9962.

The City of Charlottetown Wintertide Holiday Festival Tree Lighting begins November 23 at 6:15 pm at the Confederation Centre of the Arts Upper Plaza, and the Charlottetown Christmas Parade takes place on Saturday, November 24 beginning at 5 pm.
