The PEI Writers’ Guild has announced a new writing workshop led by author Anne Emery. The workshop will take place on October 13 in Charlottetown and is focused on villains, specifically, how to write a really good one…or bad one, as the case may be. Entitled Villains: The Characters we Love to Hate, the workshop will lead participants in a day-long workshop, exploring the factors that contribute to what makes a villain engaging and how villains can be used to drive a story narrative.

Anne Emery is a Halifax lawyer and award-winning author of the Collins-Burke mystery series. Anne won the 2007 Arthur Ellis Award for Best First Novel for her novel Sign of the Cross.

Villains: The Characters We Love to Hate will take place at the Haviland Club on October 13 from 9 am to 4 pm. Those interested in attending are asked to register online via the PEIWG website at
