The 14th edition of Tuesday Talks at Acadian Museum will kick off July 10 and continue on Tuesdays to August 14. Three talks will be delivered in French and three in English. The talks begin at 7 pm. Admission is free, donations appreciated. Refreshments will be served after each presentation. Upcoming talks are as follows:

July 17: Three well-known Island Acadians — Father Albin Arsenault, Donald Arsenault, and Claudette Thériault — will come together. In 1972, they were part of a team of 12 students who conducted a survey in the Acadian communities on the future of the French language on PEI. During the talk (in French), they will share their memories of this project and compare their findings of 46 years ago to the current situation of French life on the Island.

July 24: Historian Earle Lockerby present (in English) Island Acadians of the 1760s and the issue of the oath of allegiance to the British Crown.

July 31: Georges Arsenault will talk (in French) about traditional wedding banquets served in Acadian homes on the Island up the the 1960s.

August 7: Dr. Doug Sobey will lecture on the history of log houses on PEI.

August 14: Singer Jeannita Bernard will lead a discussion on “La Cuisine à Mémé,” a popular dinner theater held at the Étoile de Mer Restaurant, in Mont-Carmel, from 1985 to 2003.
