The PEI Writers’ Guild will host a writing symposium this summer. Sponsored by Innovation PEI, with the support of the University of Prince Edward Island and Reading Town PEI, the Wild Threads Writing Symposium is open to writers of all levels from across Canada and takes place August 23 to 25 with an opening reception the evening of August 22.

Author workshops will be facilitated by established Canadian writers. Among those leading workshops include recent Parliamentary Poet Laureate George Elliott Clarke, fiction writer Anne Simpson, Non-fiction writer Pauline Dakin, Mi’kmaq storyteller, writer, and performer Julie Pellisier Lush, literary agent Hilary McMahon, publisher Jared Bland, and YA writer and Canadian War Artist Sharon McKay.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a lobster supper, a storytelling bonfire, Mi’kmaq traditional storytelling and blessing, a local craft brewery tour, and a traditional PEI beach experience. Networking among participants, facilitators, and presenters will be an integral component of Wild Threads.

Registration opens in January and those interested in more information can visit the Wild Threads website (wildthreadscreativewriting.com) or the PEI Writers’ Guild on Facebook.
