Millefiore Clarkes documentary wins in Halifax and Lunenburg
Best Atlantic Short Documentary was presented by FIN Atlantic International Film Festival held in Halifax, Nova Scotia to The Song and the Sorrow, directed by Millefiore Clarkes, produced by Rohan Fernando and Paul McNeill.
The film followed PEI musician Catherine MacLellan in her journey to learn more about the life of her father, Canadian music legend Gene MacLellan, and her attempts to come to terms with both his and her own struggles with depression.
Clarkes says, “I’m thrilled to receive this award and grateful to everyone who helped me craft The Song and the Sorrow—most especially Catherine MacLellan and her family for sharing their story, and the National Film Board team for their guidance and support.”
The Song and the Sorrow also won the Atlantic Filmmaker Award at the 5th Annuual Lunenburg Doc Fest.
