Victoria’s Quilts Canada recently delivered its 25,000th quilt to a person living with cancer in Winsloe, PEI. The organization is a non-profit charity, committed to providing comfort, both spiritually and physically, to individuals diagnosed with cancer. With the number of people stricken with cancer continually rising, Victoria’s Quilts Canada has also seen an increase in the demand for quilts. To meet the demand, it has engaged youth in schools and facilities in a quilt-tying program, and has reached out to other community organizations to conduct quilting activity days. Betty Giffin started Victoria’s Quilts Canada in 1998, supported by a few friends who quilted and donated fabrics and supplies. The organization now includes some 1,000 volunteers across Canada. Presently, it is making and delivering almost 400 quilts each month.
