Jimmy Rankin at Harbourfront Theatre and Trailside Café

November 22 & 23

Jimmy RankinJimmy Rankin’s Moving East tour comes to Trailside Cafe in Mount Stewart on November 22 at 8 pm and Harbourfront Theatre in Summerside November 23 at 7:30 pm. Moving East is Rankin’s seventh solo album, released in September.

The album’s title reflects Rankin’s move back east to Nova Scotia after seven years living and working in Nashville. Along with fellow Nova Scotian Joel Plaskett as producer, Rankin has created an album with songs running the gamut from gritty pub tunes to soulful ballads. “I’m putting the party back in the kitchen,” says Rankins.

As one of the most famed Canadian songwriters, Jimmy Rankin wrote such classic hits as “North Country,” “You Feel the Same Way Too,” and the Juno winning single “Fare the Well Love,” voted the #1 East Coast song of all time by CBC listeners across Canada. His solo hits include “Followed Her Around,” “Morning Bound Train,” and “Cool Car.”

“With Moving East, I was trying to distil the fabric of Maritime culture into a musical collection replete with life’s highs and lows, and breathe life into stories that capture a feeling, a moment in time, live off the floor and organic,” explains Rankin.

The Trailside Café show is sold out as of Buzz press time.
