July artist lineup celebrates summer on PEI
Historic St Mary's
Indian River Festival, now in it’s 23rd year includes the best in folk, jazz, blues, roots, classical, choral, traditional, and contemporary music all in the fine acoustics of Historic St. Mary’s Church, Indian River.
July’s lineup of artists includes: July 20 at 7:30 pm Musica Danza with Trio Tangere (in partnership with Centre Belle Alliance); July 22 at 3 pm soprano, Isabel Bayrakdarian, violinist and recent Prix Goyer winner, Marc Djokic and Artistic Director, pianist Robert Kortgaard (in partnership with KKP); July 27 at 7:30 pm Dave Carroll: United Break Guitars (in partnership with Enmans Audio Video and Music Nova Scotia); July 29 at 3 pm La Fiammata, One piano/four hands with Charissa Vandikas and Linda Ruan.
“We are also doing one Open Stage each month this summer and our event this month includes a special visit from some local artisan’s who will be doing demonstrations in the pavilion,” says Don Quarles, Executive Director of the Festival. It takes place July 28 from 11 am to 4 pm. Local Island artisans will provide product and demonstrations in the pavilion from 11 am to 2 pm. The Open Stage will take place from 1 to 4 pm.
“Artisan PEI and guest artisans are delighted to partner with the remarkable Indian River Festival with this Pavilion Pop Up Craft and Art Show & Sale,” said Julia Purcell, of Purcell Gallery and one of the artisans. “The event will feature live demonstrations of ash splint basket weaving, spinning, felting, watercolour painting and more: Nora Richard, ash splint basketry; White Gables at Hope River, spinning demo; Sarah Stanford, felted dryer balls; Poppies Porch, wood articles and Julia Purcell, watercolor painting.”
Concerts takes place in St. Mary’s Church, Hamilton Road, Indian River. Doors open one hour prior to concert time.
