From the hills of Iona, PEI to Music City USA, Janet McGarry has been a dominant presence in bluegrass music. She has shared stages with some of the most revered performers of this genre. Janet has recorded twelve albums to date. In 2008 Janet was crowned a Daughter of Bluegrass. This all-female group of international bluegrass artists was formed by Miss Dixie Hall and Lorraine Jordan and has released the Box Set of the Daughters of Bluegrass recordings, Pickin’ Like a Girl.

A five-time Female Vocalist of the Year winner of the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Music Award (ECBMA), Janet remains the only artist with this industry’s “Master” distinction. Her band, Wildwood, was recently awarded Gospel Performance of the Year, and her CD Wildwood Rose was awarded Album of the Year in 2012. Her latest album is Forever is the Love.

Wildwood members are Serge Bernard, Denise MacLeod, Dylan Ferguson and Gail Mullen.

Janet’s husband, Serge Bernard is an accomplished instrumentalist, playing mandolin, guitar, fiddle, dobro, bass and banjo (his instrument of choice). Serge also produces, emcees and provides sound at various shows and festivals and was awarded the Emcee of the Year, DJ of the Year and Promoter of the Year at the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Awards. He is a founder of “Bluegrass Island” a bluegrass radio show airing for over 20 years on 95.1 FM CFCY Charlottetown. Serge has also produced, engineered, mixed and mastered many projects for Island artists for Diamond Productions PEI.

Denise MacLeod grew up in the bluegrass music family The Hay Family from Hampshire. At a young age she took on the roll of fiddle player in the band and for many years they were a mainstay at Island bluegrass festivals and other PEI venues. Denise plays fiddle, and sings lead and harmony vocals.

Island recording artist Dylan Ferguson is known for his love of traditional bluegrass and country standards and delivers a rich vocal performance that belies his age. Traditional country, such as the music of Merle Haggard, has been a big influence on Dylan.

Gail Mullen has been singing all her life. Her love of old time, folk, and traditional roots music from the Appalachian mountains shines through and her vocal talent capture’s the essence of these songs. In Janet’s band Wildwood, Gail plays bass, and sings lead and harmony vocals.
