Janet McGarry and her band Wildwood have a new show, Music from the Hills of Home, at the Harmony House Theatre in Hunter River. It will run each Tuesday at 8 pm to August 28.
This family-friendly show will feature bluegrass, gospel and country music in an acoustic setting. “To say we’re excited is an understatement,” says Janet. “To present our music in the intimate setting of this beautiful theatre where we’re up close and personal with the audience is wonderful, and it is a joy to get to work with owners Melanie and Kris.”
“Serge and I travel to Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee each year and take in many shows like the one we’re working on, and it’s so nice to be able to present it here at home,” says Janet.”
Each of the members of the band is an experienced musician—Dylan Ferguson on guitar, Denise MacLeod on fiddle, Gail Mullen on bass, and Serge Bernard on several different instruments (banjo is his instrument of choice). And they all take turns at the microphone too.
You’ll hear the music of the Carter Family, Hazel Dickens, The Stanley Brothers, Wilma Lee Cooper, and Dolly Parton to name a few, sharing a love for the music and the people from deep in the mountains of Appalachia.
Come early and enjoy a beverage or a meal in the downstairs lounge. For tickets, call Ticketpro at 1-888-311-9090 or visit www.harmonyhousetheatre.com.
