Bat WNS Confirmed

Diagnostic tests conducted by the Canadian Cooperative Wildlife Health Centre at the Atlantic Veterinary College confirm the presence of bat white-nose syndrome (WNS) in PEI’s bat population. The public is asked to report any observations of bats to the Forests, Fish and Wildlife Division at 368-4683 or Canadian Cooperative Wildlife Health Centre at 628-4314.

 
Atlantic Voices Choral Composition Contest

Atlantic Voices: The Newfoundland and Labrador Choir of Ottawa is a mixed-voice (SATB) community choir that sings music from and about Atlantic Canada. Their Choral Composition Contest seeks quality choral music with an East Coast flavour and offers a 1st prize of $500 and a 2nd prize of $200, for original choral works by Canadian composers. The winning works will be programmed on Atlantic Voices’

No Dogs on National Park beaches

Parks Canada reminds visitors that from April 1 to Oct 15 all domestic animals, including dogs and horses, are not permitted on the beaches of PEI National Park. Beaches across PEI provide important nesting habitat for the Piping Plover, an endangered shorebird in Canada. Dogs on a leash are welcome in Cavendish Grove, the campgrounds, the Gulf Shore Way (19 km of paved multi-use trail) and over 30

Macphail Youth Camps

The Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project in Orwell has been offering summer camps for youth since 1992. Children  spend the week outdoors, bird watching, tracking, making art, playing games, observing insects and getting wet and dirty. Each camp is both an adventure and an educational experience.

Drop in drawing and painting is Sat at 1:30 pm when teens aged 12+ meet weekly to share talent and inspiration.

TD Summer Reading Club kick off party is June 27 at 1 pm.

The library switches to summer hours on June 4: Mon, Fri, Sat 10 am–5 pm, Tues, Wed, Thurs 10 am–8 pm, Sun 1 pm–5 pm.
