Mōsaïk
Vishtèn

Mōsaïk - Vishtèn Mōsaïk - Vishtèn Vishtèn celebrates an international career spanning over 10 years with its fourth album Mōsaïk. Mōsaïk combines modern interpretations of traditional Acadian songs with original instrumentals that draw from an eclectic variety of roots music. This album release comes after a four-year recording hiatus during which the band developed a new core sound.

Hailing from PEI’s Evangeline area—a hub of Acadian culture—and from the most remote reaches of Quebec, the windswept Magdalene Islands, twin sisters Emmanuelle and Pastelle LeBlanc and Pascal Miousse fuse Acadian and Celtic genres with a modern sensibility of rock and indie-folk influence. Mōsaïk incorporates traditional foot percussion, fiddle, guitar, accordion, harmonium, whistles, piano, bodhran, jaw harp with the more contemporary sounds of the Moog and electric guitar.

The sound and atmosphere of Mōsaïk has been shaped by Quebec producer, Éloi Painchaud (Okoumé, Jorane, Stephen Faulkner). Éloi produced, engineered, mastered and mixed the album at Elephantone Studios in the Laurentide region in May 2012. The album was a further collaboration with Magdalene Islands visual artist, Marie-Andrée Arsenault and songwriter Mario “Fayo” LeBlanc (L’âme à p’tit Jean).

A free download of this track, L’âme à P’tit Jean, can be downloaded at the www.vishten.net. The song is based on a native legend, where P’tit Jean loses his soul and to get it back, needs to face his greatest fears. The album is now available in Canada through Distribution Plages and worldwide on iTunes.

The first Mōsaïk album release event took place in PEI at Harmony House Theatre in Hunter River. Other album launches will take place on August 12 and 13 in the Magdalene Islands at the Pas Perdus concert room. The album will be internationally launched in Austria, France, Switzerland, Italy and the UK for winter 2013.
