Acadian Museum of P.E.I.

La Roche & Le Grand Ruisseau: 200 Years in Egmont Bay and Mont-Carmel commemorates the 200th anniversary of these Acadian parishes. Part of the exhibit, conceived by historian Georges Arsenault, includes numerous photos depicting the past, interpretive panels, and various artifacts. The exhibition also features a gallery of photos of the landscape and people of the region taken by photographers Léona Arsenault and Jacinthe Laforest. On view are the permanent exhibition and video The Island Acadians. Acadian genealogy and archives available to researchers. Eptek Art & Culture Centre

Student artwork as part of ArtsSmarts 2013 is on view May 5 to 17, work by Grade 6 students from Tignish Elementary, Grade 9 students from Summerside Intermediate School, and Grade 10 and 11 students from École Évangéline. Opening is May 8 at 7 pm. Artists Maurice Bernard, Mario LeBlanc, and Denis Robert worked with the students for the past few months to help them with their visual and performance art. From April 28–May 10 Basket of Hope is in the lobby. This handcrafted basket is based on student artwork and recognizes survivors of Aboriginal residential schools.
