Acadian Musical Village offers numerous events
Visitors and Islanders alike will be able to get their fill of Acadian music, comedy and food when they visit the Acadian Musical Village in Abram-Village this summer.
“We will present you with one of the best slate of events we’ve ever had at the Acadian Musical Village,” promises president Marcel Bernard.
Mondays to Fridays, from 12 noon to 4 pm, in Ti-Manuel’s Barn, the group Gadelle—formed of four international caliber artists—will meet with visitors and perform two 45-minute shows a day, at 1:30 pm and 3 pm. This group is formed of fiddler Louise Arsenault and guitar-keyboard player Hélène Bergeron (both former members of the group Barachois), along with singer Caroline Bernard (formerly of Les Girls) and bass player Rémi Arsenault (formerly of Vishtèn).
The Acadian Musical Village offers three nights of its popular V’nez veiller dinner-theatre show. Each night features three acts of comedy and music, interspersed with a four-course meal. Advance reservations are required.
The English-language comedy The Belle of the Ball, by Wayne Robichaud, will play Tuesday nights at 6:30 pm to August 22. It stars Gerald Arsenault, Julie Arsenault, Kaylee Arsenault, Christina Gallant-MacLean, Jonathan Arsenault and Louise Arsenault.
On Wednesday and Thursday nights, the crazy comedy Retour au fou-foyer by Raymond J. Arsenault hits the main stage, playing to August 30 at 6:30 pm. Gerald, Julie and Kaylee Arsenault are also in this second play; they’ll be accompanied by Janine Gallant and Michael Richard, both veterans of the stage.
Every Saturday to August 26 will be Kids' Day at the Acadian Musical Village. Between 1 and 3 pm, two 45-minute shows will be performed by young PEI performers, including the trio of Janelle, Colby & Britney, the band Paloude and the duo of Connie and Judy Yun.
A variety of other festivities and celebrations will also be held on the grounds throughout the summer. In addition, those who would like to discover works of art by Acadian artists are welcomed to visit La galerie La Palette located on the terrace.
When visitors and locals are hungry, they can visit the Resto-Bar La Trappe anytime between 11 am and 9 pm for some Acadian or seafood dishes. Or, visitors may also want to buy some fresh baked goods from La Galette blanche bakery, also located on site.
