Ivan and Vivian are distinguished for their contribution to preserve and promote old-time fiddling throughout North America. Their music has roots steeped in tradition but their approach to promoting it is considered modern and innovative. They support school children to learn the violin and invite entire motor coaches of music lovers into their home in New Brunswick.
Ivan Hicks, a member of the North American Fiddlers Hall of Fame, has been playing old-time music for 70 years and is an accomplished composer, recording artist, performer and ambassador for Atlantic Canada Heritage. He believes his musical talent is a gift, he says, one which he has shared generously with several generations. He was recognized recently with the Order of New Brunswick.
Ivan and Vivian have both been inducted into the New Brunswick Country Hall of Fame.
The concert is presented by the Lot 7 Ceilidh Committee.
